Here is the continuation of the set of photographs that I took of this event. It was a great experience to get to know people who have the same passion just like me, to work with people outside of my NAYON buddies. Sure, some of them lack the experience of shooting a live coverage but I am confident they did a good job.

This has been my first time to work with Sir Mel Cortez of DecisiveMoments. I know I did my best despite my equipment failure. I also hope that with the work that I have done, that I have caught his attention and showed him that I can be depended upon to deliver quality photographs.

Thank you Sir Mel! c",)

I am now part of the staff of Mr. Mel Cortez of Decisive Moments as one of his apprentices. Sir Mel has been the pioneer of reportage wedding photography here in the Philippines and it was a no brainer that I join his stable. His style is what I would want to do when I venture into wedding photography on my own.

For this project, Sir Mel actually needed a platoon of photographers to cover the whole event from every conceivable angle. The photographers were divided into pairs and with each pair, was assigned a certain area of the theater to shoot.

The event was held at the Resorts World Theater and based on the number of people who came to watch the show, the event was successful. However, there were a lot of viewers who were refused entry because of the limited sitting capacity in the venue.

Without further ado, I am posting the photos to the delight of well, everybody! But I have to do another post for the second half of this contest to include photos of the eventual winners! c",)

The Zany Shot.....

One of my fellow photographers from the NAYON Photographers' Club asked us to shoot a sort of beauty pageant that will involve college students of Metro Manila schools as contestants. Sad to hear though that the shoot will be Pro Bono, an exchange deal with the club being considered as one of the sponsors and will therefore be acknowledged throughout the shoot in exchange for our services of shooting the event for free. Oh John, the things that you do in exchange for folio photos! c",)

The event was the Mr. and Ms. Philippine Youth 2008. This campus search has produced the present crop of stars of Philippine cinema at present. Past winners include Dingdong Dantes and Jolina Magdangal. A few more names were mentioned but these two were the prominent ones.

In an age when an instant claim to fame can ensure someone of a better future in the entertainment industry, it does not come as a surprise to me that a lot of young people cast their lot in such contests. My fellow photog and close friend Buboy even recognized some of the contestants who joined in other contests of this nature before. I guess these kids really prefer to be in the limelight rather than finishing up college and having a good solid foundation. Different strokes for different folks!
